I spoke to the Skoda VRS team fresh from breaking the 2-litre speed record at Bonneville flats
Super Car Sunday, San Fernando Valley - Skoda VRS team fresh from breaking the 2-litre forced-induction production car speed record at Bonneville flats - they did a run that averaged 227mph , breaking the record previously held by Mitsubishi. They arrived a little late though - Super Car Sunday officially ends at 10 am, so there were few people left to get an eyeful of the car. Skoda is neither known nor sold in the USA, although I think any car geek would recognise the VW proportions of the Octavia as being those of the Jetta. According to the little Skoda guy with whom I chatted, the SKoda Octavia VRS is now officially the fourth fastest production car in the world. I suspect that this one might have been specially modified to achieve this speed.
