Testing a Starfighter Engine
Our GE J79-19 turbojet, out of an
Italian air force Starfighter, being put through its paces, and burning
several hundred gallons of sweet Jet-A in the process.
My rear-engine camera was blown down the field, rescued and put on intake
monitoring duty. It still couldn't keep still. I held my main camera,
standing as close as I dared to the afterburner nozzle, and my knees
actually buckled a bit every time it lit off.
This engine makes some smoke because it has standard combustors (see my
combustor videos), and passed the test with ease. It ran like a Swiss
watch, er... like an Italian turbojet !
Afterburner vs. Snow
We test run a J79-J1E with afterburner on a sunny, snowy, freezing cold
day. There are a few new people with us, and they prove that "everybody
loves afterburners !"

How to build a TURBOJET ENGINE
HELLO GEEK WEEK
So this is the first in my trilogy of videos about building a turboJET engine from scrap.
This video is me building the jet then tomorrow i'll take you through the
simple maths and it is simple.
enjoy subscribe and see you next video.

A newly rebuilt engine from a supersonic fighter is put to the test at the

Boeing Jet Powered Go Kart: FOR SALE!
First test run of the Boeing Jet kart with the new nozzle. Burning in the
nozzle paint as well. So far the new nozzle exceeds my expectations with
great flow and heat dissipation. The thrust pattern seems to be tightly
concentrated and pushing power has increased. Afterburner might be in the
works next. This jet kart is FOR SALE. For more information contact
firstname.lastname@example.org. Many types and styles of gas turbine engines are for
sale. Custom fabrication and engineering services. Turbine powered vehicle
design and installation.
Will a JET ENGINE made from a LOO roll holder WORK?
Amazing to think that something made from bad materials in such a crude
manner with little attention paid to the specilized maths required to make
these engines work, actullay WORKS. some may argue its nt going to produce
much thrust but the point was could it run at all and it ticked that box

Pure Jet Engine Afterburner Sound "Without Music".
The high pitch whine and hiss you here is caused by the Avpin starter,
which is on the front of each engine, this produces a rush of gases, into a
primary turbine which winds the engine up to 34% within 9 seconds. By that
time fuel is being pumped to the engine and its dragging its own air, a
very simple way of starting jet engines in the days before electric
starters. The two wheeled trolley under the starboard wing is known as a
trolley Ack,it uses 2 12v lorry batteries, this gives us 24V which is the
minimum voltage required to run all the pumps, etc prior and during the
start of each engine. (28v is the 'peak' voltage)
The wire (a 'bigun') runs from the trolley ack to the 'power in' point in
the starboard wheel well
In the old days walnuts were used to clean the old smokers (jets) - just
toss them in with engine on.Explosive devices could also be detonated to
get the jet turbine spinning if no AGE equipment was available (eg
emergency) This method was sometimes used on older United States jet
engines,if anyone has got video of this please put it on YouTube, it sounds
like a great thing to see.
The only way to describe what it sounded like, well stick a air hose in your
ear and pull the trigger, yeah it was awesome and kinda painful,a incredible
white noise when near the engine,it was only when I got further away that
the jet engine roar was audible.
If a merlin engine sounds like Beethoven
a jet afterburner sounds like Motorhead LOL!!
