Unclogging A Heater Core - EricTheCarGuy
Unclogging A Heater Core - EricTheCarGuy
There is a lot more here than meets the eye, the original video cut was about 16 min long. As you can see we did have some fun. I may post some of the out takes at some time in the future. I thought you might want to cover the process here and that's what I went for.
Thanks to http://www.youtube.com/user/Davidsfarm for the procedure for this and hopefully for letting me post this as a video response to his video.
If I think of anything else I think you need to know with this I'll post it later, for now I have to run.

its an easy job, just be patient because there are a few hidden screws/bolts which may take some time. go step by step and don't forget the formation of the wiring, its not a lot but you might forget one behind the vents or something, you dont wanna open the whole thing for one wire. good luck and comment if you have questions about cars or this video. subscribe too.
Let's add some heat!
Swapped out the heater core on the '93 F150 today, and a few other minor things...
1971 FORD TORINO GT HEATER CORE REPLACEMENT
Here we have a short video of a Removed Heater Canister with heater core for a 71 Ford Torino GT. Remember to take pictures of connections and mark lines where needed with a sharpie and scotch tape for reassembly. Total time to remove the Canister was around 3 hrs but since this was our first ford Torino, there is a learning curve. I am sure if we had to do again, we could do in less than 2 hours. Also. We only removed the steel dash bolts where needed and loosend others to make the dash so lose we could manuever the Heater Canister underneath the dash without totally removing it.
Heater Core Blew up?! Help!
UPDATE: I've since replaced the heater core, it was indeed bad. The dumb plastic inlet hose was cracked and broken, which I'm assuming was from too much pressure buildup, which was probably caused by it being clogged. Anyway, here's an excellent how-to for a Pontiac Grand Am. If you own a Grand Am, and aren't a member of this site, you definitely should join! They're a great community, and very helpful. http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29080
Well, I think my heater core blew out in my 1998 Pontiac Grand Am GT V6. It's got 136K miles on it right now, and on my way to class this morning, I heard a sudden hissing sound, then steam started pouring out of my vents and it reeked like coolant, but there was no steam or hissing under the hood. When I shut the engine off, the hissing stopped, but the steam was still trickling out a bit. Every time I stopped, there was a nice puddle under the car. Here's what I found... HELP!!!
