Muffler comparison
This video compares the sound of two mufflers: Thrush 24200 - Walker Glasspack Mufflers (old muffler) vs. Jones Exhaust ATT18S-3 - Jones Full Boar turbo Tube Muffler (new muffer). The glasspack has the wobbly camera at night. The turbo tube has the steady camera at dusk. I tried running the same route with each, with the same driving habits, but traffic forced me to do otherwise. Sorry about that. The difference in sound between the two isn't represented well in the videos. My observation from riding is that both are really too loud. The glass pack is louder and screams more. The turbo tube is noticeably less loud, with a throatier tone. Conversation at cruise with the old muff was a shouting match with many missed words. Conversation with the new one requires just a strong voice and requires no repeats. Talking during heavy acceleration with either is a joke. Powerplant is a stock 1.6L Miata, in a Locost 7 chassis. Stock header into a 2" pipe. 6" turnout on the driver side, just fore of the rear tire.
