Twin circuit brake boxes for the TR4 and TR4a
I’ve had a small batch of these made to my own design and which allow you to fit dual circuit brakes to the TR4 and TR4a. This is a great move for both safety and operation and something that I’ve run one way or another for some years in all of my rally TR4’s. I have 2 no. spare.
This master cylinder box allows the fitment of TWO brake master cylinders in the position of the standard single master cylinder layout onto the existing standard brake pedal, just by adding an adjustable balance bar to connect the two (therefore also allowing you to make some limited adjustment to the brake bias front and rear). The clutch master cylinder sits alongside as normal. All of these parts are readily available online, but I can point you at them if necessary.
All the fittings are UNF as standard, you can use any brand of hardware (eg Girling, LUCAS, OBP, Wilwood, AP Racing) whatever you like to suit your preference and budget, they all fit. You can also hang remote reservoirs off the side, bolt in a brake pressure switches etc.
All the pipe work is up to you, but you can solid line them or use braided hose as there is sufficient room to do either.
These are laser cut in mild steel and hand TIG welded together in the UK - the ones I have left are now painted in red oxide primer so that the metal doesn’t rust in storage, so that’s how they would come to you. Fit in 5 minutes … and completely interchangeable with the standard single circuit brake box and pedal set.
