The 2003-2006 Mercedes SL500 is built with the following suspension components:
2003-2006 Mercedes SL500 Active Hydraulic Struts (x4) - A long tube (similar to a shock absorber) that fills with hydraulic fluid forced in at varying rates of pressure determined by sensors on the vehicle. The strut is the resting place for a steel coil spring, which works to help support the weight of the vehicle. The struts are known as "active" because they can be adjusted hundreds of times a minute electronically. Much like a shock absorber, the strut dampens vibration and bouncing caused by travel on rough road surfaces.
2003-2006 Mercedes SL500 Height Sensors (x4) - A linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle that electronically measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, they will eventually wear out.
2003-2006 Mercedes SL500 Hydraulic Lines - Tubes that carry hydraulic fluid from a pump to each strut at a high rate of pressure.
2003-2006 Mercedes SL500 Hydraulic Pump - A mechanical pump that delivers hydraulic fluid throughout the system at a high rate of pressure. On many models, the pump may have a second reservoir that works to deliver power steering to the vehicle. The pump can fail due to normal wear and tear OR it can burn up due to low fluid level caused by leaks in the suspension system.
2003-2006 Mercedes SL500 Suspension Control Module - A computer that is responsible for the operation of the active suspension system and maintaining the vehicle's correct ride height.
2003-2006 Mercedes SL500 Rubber O-rings - Although they are the least expensive part of the air suspension, they are responsible for maintaining the seal where all of the hydraulic lines connect. Be sure to replace the O-rings when repairing any active suspension system.
Suspension Failure Signs
A sudden loss of three to five inches of ride height on any or all of the four wheels is the most obvious sign of a problem on the 2003-2006 Mercedes-Benz SL500. Early detection of a bad suspension is the key to avoiding total failure. Check for hydraulic fluid leaking from the struts, lines, connection points or the pump itself. If the fluid level gets too low, it can burn out the pump and lead to a widespread failure of the system. A sudden loss of power steering and you'll know the pump has most likely failed. A suspension warning light, at times accompanied by a chiming noise, is another sign of trouble. And because this system is so complicated, replacing just ONE part will seldom solve the problem. Many experienced technicians will recommend replacing ALL of the major components of the factory suspension to have a high rate of success. This type of complete repair can be in the neighborhood of $9,000 to $11,000!OEM Replacement Cost

RETURN PROCESS
In the event that you need to return your item for non-warranty related issues, a restocking fee will be applied to your return. We use restocking fees as a way to cover the cost of the return shipping, inspecting and reboxing of the item.

A $100 restocking fee will be charged for all 2-wheel conversion kits or non-conversion kits items valued less than $500.00.
A $200 restocking fee will be charged for all 4-wheel conversion kits or non-conversion kits items valued in excess of $500.00.

To return an item, please email customer service at to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. After receiving a RMA number, place the item securely in its original packaging and include your proof of purchase, and mail your return back to us.

Suspension Experts, LLC (Strutmasters) warrants to the original retail purchaser that each new Strutmasters branded product purchased from an authorized dealer shall be free from defects for the periods listed below when used on private passenger cars and light trucks for personal use under normal operating conditions.
Warranty Period
Strutmasters extends a 1 Year warranty on all Strutmasters branded shocks, struts, and springs.
Strutmasters extends a 90 Day warranty on SmartRide branded shocks, struts, and springs.
Warranty Details
This warranty is non-transferable and does not cover normal wear and tear or any other loss, liability or damage resulting from improper alteration, disassembly, handling, installation, service, repair or use of this product. If for any reason you find it necessary to alter a product you must receive written consent from a Strutmasters technician.
This warranty will not cover surface finish, boot or mounting hardware such as, but not limited to, rubber bushings or dust covers.
If a replacement is required prior to returning the defective product, a deposit for the replacement may be required. The deposit charge will be refunded upon receipt of the warrantied item.
If the product is purchased in error or is no longer needed, the customer is responsible for shipping the products back at their expense and will be subject to a restocking fee as outlined in our return policy.
If you have purchased a Strutmasters product from a 3rd party seller all warranty claims and returns must be submitted directly through the 3rd party.
The warranties and remedies contained herein are exclusive and in lieu of all other warranties expressed, implied, or statutory, including any liability arising under any warranty or merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, statutory or otherwise. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, which may vary by jurisdiction.
In no event shall Strutmasters be liable for any incidental, special, indirect, or consequential damages, whether resulting from the use, misuse, or inability to use a Strutmasters product or from defects in the Strutmasters product. Cost of removal, installation and other labor claims are not included or covered under this warranty. Strutmasters obligation under this warranty is limited to replacement of the defective product.
Strutmasters retains the exclusive right to repair or replace with new or remanufactured product or offer refund of the purchase price at its sole discretion.
This warranty is null and void if the installation is not performed by an ASE certified mechanic. It is required to submit a receipt or proof of installation was completed by an ASE certified mechanic with your warranty claim form.
All warranty returns must be shipped back with a copy of your original invoice, sales order or receipt, verifications of installation by a certified ASE mechanic and the warranty claim form. After receiving the returned product we will take 2-4 business days to process your warranty return.

For Non-Strutmasters branded products, most manufacturers offer a warranty period that covers against merchandise defects. To determine warranty requirements for a specific item, please contact the manufacturer directly for more information about their warranty policies.
Please note warranty processing may take 4-8 weeks and will be subject to the individual manufacturer's policies and discretion. Manufacturer warranties do not cover defects determined to be caused by normal wear or due to customer error or negligence.
