Instead, try mixing a tablespoon of Dawn or some other mild dish detergent per gallon of water and after mixing it up thoroughly, take some of the resulting foam and smear it all over the lid. Using the detergent foam this way will allow you to safely slide the decal around until you have it positioned correctly. Once you are satisfied, lay a piece of wax paper on top of the decal and squeegee out all of the bubbles.
