This is an authentic MAShaw E36 slotted GTR hood for a coupe. It\'s made out of FRP rather than carbon fiber. If you want a painted hood, FRP is the way to go. It\'s nearly as light as the carbon fiber (12-20 lbs) but won\'t show a weave through the paint like CF does. I don\'t believe that you can get this hood in FRP anymore. Im selling my E36 M3 so I don\'t need this hood anymore.
I started to clean up and reinforce this hood for painting and mounting. The cooling ducts were carefully measured and cut out (they come with only a rough cut out), and fiber glass was laid on the back for reinforcement. The reinforcement strips on the back come not attached to the hood which causes too much lateral flex. The fiber glass that I laid solves this, and the hood is very stiff but still quite light. It took a lot of work to get to this point. The buyer will certainly be benefiting from my work, and will be better off. The hood is now ready for prep and paint.
This is a rare hood that will reduce weight, look great, and increase engine cooling. In track driving conditions it\'s said to help reduce engine bay temperatures. I\'ve put a fair amount of work into this piece, however because my E36 is going I don\'t need it. My loss is your gain. Don\'t miss this opportunity to get a rare MAShaw GTR FRP hood.
