Installation:
1. You need a hair dryer or heat gun to heat up the adhesivethat holds the old emblem. The heat will soften the glue making it easier toremove it. Keep the hair dryer/heat gun about 3 inches away from the emblem andheat the entire emblem evenly. Periodically check how hot the paint is getting,you do not want to overheat the paint. Once the adhesive has softened youshould be able to easily remove the old emblem off the car. We highly recommendemblem removal wire. Note: be very careful as the paint surface will be hot!
2. Once you have removed the old emblem you will need toclean the surface from the glue residue that is left behind. This can be doneby applying some adhesive/glue remover to a microfiber towel and cleaning thesurface. We also highly recommend the 3M Stripe OFF Wheel that will last youfor years. It may take some good old fashion elbow grease to remove the glueresidue. Once all the adhesive is removed use some rubbing alcohol to clean thepaint surface from any grease or dirt, this will allow the tape on the newbadge to stick correctly, this is a MUST DO STEP. Please make sure the surfaceis DRY.
3. You can install the emblem letter/number by letter/numberor whole emblem at once.
One by one:
You can use some blue painters tape to help mark off thearea where you will be placing the emblem. When ready to apply the emblemremove the white backing paper from the back of the new emblem, be careful notto touch the adhesive part. Line the emblem up so it's straight (you will onlyhave one chance to do this right) and firmly hold the emblem in place for 30seconds.
Whole emblem at once:
Keep the clear film on top and remove the backing whitepaper and install the emblem at once. Please note that the emblem comes withletters NOT aligned. We recommend using a ruler, so you can evenly space outthe letters and numbers on the clear top film. Usual spacing is 6mm between thesingle numbers/letters(C/E/S/GLE/GLS/SL/ML etc.;43/53/55/63/65 etc.) and 11mm between the set of lettersand numbers(C/E/S/GLE/GLS/SL/ML etc. between43/53/55/63/65 etc.), but you can to do the spacing to your liking. You can use some blue painterstape to help mark off the area where you will be placing the emblem. Be carefulnot to touch the adhesive part. Line theemblem up so it's straight (you will only have one chance to do this right) andfirmly hold the emblem in place for 30 seconds.
