Crux SWRVL54 Volvo interface adaptor for Radio replacement
The Crux SWRVL54 is an adaptor for the onboard Volvo electronics to interface with a modern non-Volvo replacement radio. This is needed so that Steering Wheel mounted radio Controls (SRC) can function, as well as instrument panel lamp dimming function, reverse gear selection signal and vehicle speed signals, all of which and more are available at the data bus terminals of the original Volvo radio which has no separate wires for any of these functions. Installing the SWRVL54 in an XC70 was completely uneventful with no surprises or difficulties. The small DIP switches are set for the appropriate radio's remote SRC controls, the connections made, and everything worked as intended. As Crux took the design decision to custom wire and program each kit for a specific type of car, this is no ... It costs more than a "One Size Fits Most" adaptor that tries to work with most cars but probably delivers better results. The kit comes with everything needed to connect a modern radio, including an adaptor for utilizing the existing Volvo amplifier (if equipped) with the new radio. The only other things you will need is an antenna wire adaptor and a dash kit.
