Great Product
The Posilock cable system is fairly simple to install and is by far money well spent. It completely cuts the vacuum out and contains detailed instructions on how to remove the vacuum actuator and install the cable. It does involve drilling a hole in the cab which is simple, I personally just cut some flooring insulation out vs. peeling it back to drill the hole but pay attention to the measuring tool provided. Measure twice and cut once, you do not want to hit the support that the instructions reference. it causes no structural damage, but takes forever to drill through. The cable end inside the cab screws out to engage the front axle and screws in to disengage it. Very few times you will have to screw it in, slightly move the truck to align the axle splines and then finish screwing the ... My dad had worked on his vacuum lock for several years. When our mechanic installed the posi-lock he immediately bought and installed one on his truck. He said he’s going to start replacing the vacuum lock with the posi-lock on all the trucks he works on. He only works on dodge trucks. It needs some getting used to. We figured out it’s way Easier to screw out the handle than pull it out. It needs some type of spring to push it out and hold it till the axle locks. Several times we thought it was locked in and it wasn’t. Now we screw the handle out and it works every time.My dad had worked on his vacuum lock for several years. This is an actual 4x4 Posi Lok brand name, no rip off mimic. Very good quality and will last for a long time. This is an essential part to upgrade on a 2nd gen dodge ram or jeep, as the factory Vacuum actuator is terrible. Works with the Dana 44 CAD or Dana 60 CAD. Using this posi lok system, it also allows you to do 2wd Low for towing. If you want your 4wd to actually work, upgrade to a posi lok.This is an actual 4x4 Posi Lok brand name, no rip off mimic. Perfect replacement to the wonky vacuum actuated Central Axle Disconnect (CAD) module. This thing mechanically moves the shift collar to engage the front axle without any vacuum issue. I installed this on my 1957 Chevrolet truck, that I built on a 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 4wd chassis. I kept the Dodge running gear with all the computer controls and EFI. I ditched the vacuum system for the front axle in favor of a simple reliable system, (Posi-Lok). The install was simple. I mocked it up a few times to make sure it routed like I wanted, away from engine heat, and then added a length of 3/4" heat shield sleeve, just to ensure there were not issues, (no warranty for heat damage, so why chance it.) Quick tip...the actuator end of the cable uses three E-clips to locate the actuator fork and ... Perfect replacement to the wonky vacuum actuated Central Axle Disconnect (CAD) module. comes with pretty much everything needed to install and is very simple to install! bought and installed in my truck as the steel vacuum lines had rusted out and i'll take this set up anytime! allows the use of low range 4wd when pulling a load up a steep hill with out the front axle engaging and fighting on dry pavement and takes the guess work out of if your 4wd is engaging.
