    Very happy.

    Actually time will tell how good this product turns out to be. My first impression is how much heavier this part is over the 50 yr old original, with 59k miles on it. I could not find a manifold stating that it was for a 170 CID slant six. So I took a chance on this one. Fit like a glove- with a couple minor modifications. 1, still and tap the second hole for the choke thermostat. No big deal as the pilot hole lined up with the old part. Why it wasn’t already tapped- who knows. Also the inner hole for the intake manifold mount to the exhaust manifold has a larger bolt hole than original. I reamed the hole larger in the intake manifold to install a larger diameter bolt. Plenty of material- so no problem. I used the thick “repair” type gaskets. It sounds like a new car now! For ...

    Get what you pay for

    Externally it's nice. Internally it looked/felt like the inside of a cinder block. 5 hours with a carbide burr and many sanding rolls to fix that. The pipe flange studs on the stock unit are 7/16". This one came with 1/4" and one hole is badly off center. Going to a machine shop to get that fixed, which will add another $100 to the cost before it's useable. I am not going to risk a broken stud later on. I need reliable, going to keep this truck for a long time. These reasons are why it is not $325 like the Dorman unit. These steps are not necessary if you are going to sell the vehicle to someone you do not like. If you want reliability and a cheap price, be prepared to do some work and spend a few more bucks. Without the extra effort it WILL carbon up and choke closed over time and snap ...

  • Grinder work will need to be done on a custom job.

    I had to spend a LOT of time, grinding out the casting flash in this manifold... BUT...I'm building a custom engine for a 27 roadster, and am doing a Weber 2 bbl. conversion. I had to port match this manifold, but there was plenty of material left to do it. If a person is going to do a stock replacement, it will work fine.. But if they want something a little better than stock, they will have to do a lot of die grinder work. Made in China, is a good deal....BUT...for a custom one off piece, it will need some work. For the price I paid, it was a good value. But be prepared to spend at least 4 hours hogging out the ports. SO...I give it a rating of 4 stars.

  • Slant 6 manifold

    Had to alter this manifold right out of the box. Drilled 3 holes to make it fit and line up with the intake manifold. Also had to tap one of the holes for the choke! Be careful with this product! There's probably better quality out there

  • Average at best

    This manifold is average at best, but at less than $100 it is to be expected, on my particular piece I bought only one of the choke mounting plate bolt holes tapped, the other was completely untapped, the center bolt hole to attach the manifolds together was bored to a larger size stock. If you are alright with modifying it to fit all models, it'll be fine.
