249 MPH V12 Toyota Supra

June 14th, 2018

It requires a special individual to take matters into their own hands and build a variant of a production car after which an entire generation thirsts. The magical Toyota Supra has been the crown jewel of Toyota enthusiasts every since production ceased way back in 1993 (U.S.).

Well, Kazuhiko “Smokey” Nagata is such an individual. Smokey built Top Secret Performance out of the basement of his family business, Trust (parent company of GReddy). Top Secret is responsible for this radical one-off Supra and many other one-of-a-kind speedsters. He was well known for crazy engine and transmission swaps and taking his testing to the streets – much to the behest of law enforcement officials (whom we support).

Smokey’s Supra is titled as a 1998 model. The engine is from a 1997 Toyota Century; an ultra-luxury limousine. It is a 1ZG-FE 5.0-liter V12. Of course, the mill had to be built to handle a pair of HKS GT2835 ball bearing turbochargers. Since nobody was offering a V12 controller when the car was built, Smokey went with a pair (one for each engine bank) of HKS F-Con V Pro standalone ECUs to tune the car.

Once it was strapped to the dyno it made 930hp and 745 ft.-lbs. of torque.

Take a long look because this historic piece of machinery is not something that you want to miss!
